What Year Is It?

CIMG0069
In June of 2010 we dressed up like time travelers and invaded the Middletown car show. This venue lent itself to many jokes. I walked up to a man proudly displaying his car, and asked “What year is it?” He replied, “It’s a 1969 Rolling Widget.” “No, no, what year is it now?” and other such jokes (I think Peter came up with that one). I dressed as a inhabitant of a THX1138 type future in all white with a barcode on my neck and wrist, while both Peter and Joe went with Terminator themes. Omar decided to be a time traveler from the past, which seemed to really confuse people more than anything else, but to be fair, he was the only one who was asked to pose for pictures.

Som Day 08

What a good day. I woke up this morning to an email from a guy running the diesel program at Cheney Tech in Mansfield – he offered their services in getting the bus operational (both maintenance wise and the veggie conversion). Then about a dozen people showed up downtown to terrorize the populace as ninjas. We went from crosswalk to crosswalk, one cluster of ninjas on each side of the street. When the crosswalk changed to WALK, be bolted out into the center of the street, and fought the other group/anyone around us. Once it changed back to DON’T WALK, we ran back to one side or another. We went up Main St. and Washington St., and even managed to get some other folks to join in. Good stuff.

Just an Update

So I finally discovered that people are reading this blog. I don’t know why but that still strikes me as strange. I see this as more of a repository for stray thoughts that would otherwise be lost, but if other people enjoy it, all the better.

I should be blogging considerably less this week, because I have three papers that need to be written. But in reality, that means I will be blogging more. Much more. As long as I can stay away from those papers.
I love my work ethic.

In other news I’m already looking forward to SomDay this year (June 16th), which is undoubtedly a mistake. Whenever I get into something this far in advance there is a chance for me to waste all my energy and enthusiasm in anticipation. But no matter, logic hasn’t stopped me before, and it won’t now.
Last year’s Zombie invasion was incredibly fun, and I’d like to do something again on that scale, but not the same. If possible, this holiday should be celebrated differently each year.
(PLEASE NOTE: this doesn’t mean we won’t do another zombie invasion just for shits and giggles)
We’re still working on a final plan. One idea was to spend an entire day as your Anti-self. Bizarro-you. Take everything about you to the other extreme, and do that for the entire day. If you’re outgoing, become shy and reclusive. If you’re uptight become laid back. Etc.

We shall see. For now, I’m going to try and do some damage to one of these papers.

Juan Fest

These last couple days for me have been amazing. Thursday night, Ten Past Midnight performed at Java, and in addition to actually hearing the music this show, I got to see lots of people who I hadn’t seen in a very long time. All in all, a kickass time.

But Friday was able to beat it, with zombies marching on Main St. Stopping at all three coffee shops on and off of main st, we covered decent ground, and generally had a good time. *waits for video*

And tonight, I caught a few hours of live music. I tuned into AT&T’s blue room (at Bonnaroo) just as Damian Marley was finishing his set, so I caught the entire My Morning Jacket performance, which lasted from 9:30 to 12:30…such awesomeness should not be had in such a short span of days.

The only question is, what will tomorrow bring?
