I’d been meaning for a while now to actually try powdered milk. It isn’t something I’ve ever had before, but it seemed to be a good option for the Tour. And it turns out, it’s pretty good. Taste wise. And it can travel really well, and has all the vitamins and stuff that regular milk has. So that is good news: we’ll have milk on the bus.

Cheney Checkup
Ned and I checked in with Joe at Cheney Tech yesterday, and things look good. The heat transfer is built, and the tank is just about done. In the picture above, that large metal box is the tank, and the top is laying on the table. I’ll edit together a video soon.
Forums
I was asked to set up some forums so we can discuss things, and not clog up the main site, so I did. You can see them at juanway.org/forum. If you’re already a user on this site, you don’t need to register again, and can log in with the same information.

No video, because there isn’t much tangible to show yet, and I figured it would just be a little weird showing Joe and I walking around real excited-like. Here is a page of the plans for the tank, which is being welded together specially for this project. It’s a nice looking rig, and I should be able to post completed pictures soon.
Seeking Sponsors
Well, there is enough money to cover the conversion, but to make this project really shine we need a little more money. So I’ve started an official search for sponsors. Hence, the eBay auction.
If you know anyone who is interested, point them my way.

Also, I should be visiting Cheney Tech later this week, and I’ll post video of what has happened so far, and what will be happening soon.
The Plan

I met with Joe today, and we went over the grand master plan for the bus conversion. The veggie tank, heat exchanger, and general configuration are all set. It is fairly simple, and each little step is easy to explain (I’ll show you everything once it is done). The trick is getting all the simple things working together.
The bus needs a little other work too. The brake lines need some work, and I’m certain that more will come to light after they make a real inspection. But all of that is still a ways in the future. The good news is that we now have a plan to follow, and I’ll be sure to keep this site updated with the progress.
In the shop
I dropped by Cheney today and found that Anne has been successfully moved inside. Soon the steel to build the tank will arrive, be welded into a wonderful large tank, and mounted in the bus. I’ll be keeping this blog updated with progress.
Trek to Cheney Tech
Moving the Bus
Yesterday I moved the bus from my backyard to Cheney Tech in Manchester. After FOX did that thing on us, I got an email from Joe Hollay, the instructor in the diesel shop at Cheney Tech. He wanted to help us convert the bus! So the school year has started up, and […]
Yesterday I moved the bus from my backyard to Cheney Tech in Manchester. After FOX did that thing on us, I got an email from Joe Hollay, the instructor in the diesel shop at Cheney Tech. He wanted to help us convert the bus! So the school year has started up, and the students are back, and they’re ready for the bus. So the bus is in Manchester, waiting to be operated on. I finally met Joe, after talking to him on the phone for months, and he’s an incredibly cool guy. I probably should have guessed that since he offered his services to us in the first place. I don’t know what it is about this project that attracts interesting people, but I’m grateful for it.
I’ll be dropping by the diesel shop to learn and share more about the veggie conversion, so you can look forward to that. There is a little video from me driving behind Anne that I’ll try to get online soon, but until then there are a couple pictures on Flickr. Much more coming soon.
