The Gang

So I spent 10 days down in St. Lucia at Coconut Bay Resort and Spa, which was pretty cool. If you’re ever planning on heading down that way, I’d highly recommend it. The weather is nice, the people are nicer, and the landscape is breathtaking.

That’s all I’m going to say about that.

Re: gone

Dear everyone I haven’t told yet,
I’m going on a trip to St. Lucia from 12/20/06 to 1/1/07. This should explain the lack of my presence online, on the phone, and in real life. I wish all of you a Happy Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Solstice, Festivus, and New Year!

So, what do I take away from this weekend besides a face sore from grinning and a body weary of movement? Well, a lot. Probably a lot more than I could ever convey in a single blog post. Its impressive how much more can be done when you don’t sleep. Makes me want to get back on the six day week. Anywise, sometime this morning between three and six, we finally got around to philosophizing. Two things I hope I remember from that:
1) In the bible, Jesus’ elastic clause can be interperted as each person’s law, not just the pope’s.
2)…shit, I forgot it. I knew this would happen.

I think it is finally time for sleep.

Finals Suck

Finals do suck, but they’re over, and my brain is appropriately crispy. In the spirit of this lack of neural activity, I give you Chacarron.

I’m not sorry.

All We Gotta Do Is…

So, I saw a bit of SNL a week or so ago, and it was the first time in a long time I had actually seen a new episode. I was actually really impressed. Hugh Laurie (of House) was hosting, Beck was the musical guest, and Borat showed up for some reason. Hugh Laurie performed a song at one point which was by far the highlight of what I saw. I can’t find a copy of YouTube that hasn’t been removed, but here is one from MySpace:

So, I posted a roadmap for somjuan.com a month or so back, which outlined where that site would be heading. Needless to say, I’m no where near on track with that.
The reason for that happens to be the reason for this post. I currently have another project, which I can’t really talk about. I’m starting a business with some friends, and it has been taking precedence in my mind for some time now, and will soon be taking precedence in my actions. Since most of my free time is going to be aimed at this business, somjuan.com won’t be worked on in a regular schedule. Consider that project suspended until my business venture succeeds or fails.
That isn’t to say I’m not going to be working on it at all. I’ll likely get to work on it quite a bit, but not in a schedule which I could stick by. Might as well check back from time to time to see if anything has changed.
I will of course mention any progress here.

Anamorphic Cycle

So, to make up for not posting a music file in the last entry, I’m devoting this entire entry to a music file.

This is woobiee’s Anamorphic Cycle, which is a complete album, and a very good one at that. He has since come out with a new album, and is no longer hosting this file. I thought I had lost it when my hard drive died, but I got a copy from a friend today.

So I’ll keep this file on my server as long as I have hosting, so others can enjoy it.

Not Dead

Don’t believe the rumors, I am not dead. Although my blog certainly is.

I’ve been making and configuring my new computer for a week or so now, and I think I’ve gotten it to a point where I am happy with it.
In case you’re curious, the new comp is a AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ on a M2N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard, with 2GB of OCZ DDR2 800 RAM. It also has a GeForce 7600GT video card, and a 150GB raptor HDD.

So far I’ve installed Kubuntu (64bit). I had Fedora Core 5 and Windows XP Pro (both 64bit), but neither of those were working out for me, so they’re history. I’ll get around to installing a 32bit windows eventually, but not any time soon. I need to get myself acquainted with Kubuntu.

So far my experience with Kubuntu has been great, but the same problems that plague most 64bit operating systems are giving me a bit of trouble as well. Simple things, like flash, don’t have a 64 bit version. There are workarounds, but I haven’t had the time yet.

Speaking of not having time, I’ve been wishing I could work on somjuan.com for weeks now. Midterms prevented that, but since I’m now on a stable computer, and school should be easing up a bit, I can hope to get some stuff done.

Also, I’m sorry, but no music bite for this post. Maybe when I get flash installed, I’ll edit one in.
