Juan Fest

These last couple days for me have been amazing. Thursday night, Ten Past Midnight performed at Java, and in addition to actually hearing the music this show, I got to see lots of people who I hadn’t seen in a very long time. All in all, a kickass time.

But Friday was able to beat it, with zombies marching on Main St. Stopping at all three coffee shops on and off of main st, we covered decent ground, and generally had a good time. *waits for video*

And tonight, I caught a few hours of live music. I tuned into AT&T’s blue room (at Bonnaroo) just as Damian Marley was finishing his set, so I caught the entire My Morning Jacket performance, which lasted from 9:30 to 12:30…such awesomeness should not be had in such a short span of days.

The only question is, what will tomorrow bring?

Commercial Break

I just bought GTA: Liberty City Stories for PS2, which I have yet to start playing, but I have screwed around with it on the PSP, and its everything thats good about GTA:3 and more.
EDIT: I’ve now played a couple missions, and its awesome. Buy it.

I also placed an order for that Don Hertzfeldt DVD I posted about yesterday. I think I’ve seen most of the shorts which are on the DVD, but I haven’t seen all of them. And above all, what I’ve seen has been amazing. They make it a pretty good deal too. $24 preorder price, minus $4 w/coupon code, plus free mystery gift, plus a year of rolling stone magazine. Sweet.

Also, I hate allergies. And Summer. But more about that later.

Regret

I had a feeling tonight that I don’t get often. I actually regretted something. To this point in my life, I can only say that I really regret one thing, and I’ve had other little regrets, but they don’t matter, and I forget them moments after.
I drove by some fire dancers at weslyan tonight, and I thought about pulling over and watching. I thought about it the entire way home. I feel like I really missed out on something, and I don’t really know why. I’ve seen fire dancers before, and its something I enjoy, and I didn’t really have anything I needed to be home for…bah

I don’t like regret much.

Anywise, I haven’t been doing much updating on this site since I’ve been working a 9-5. Spend most of my free time on side projects and just kickin back. I still encourage people to submit articles. It’d be pretty cool if this site became really interactive.

I’m gonna go find something else to do.

Gain

Ok, so as far as I know, I’ll be back at UConn next year.

I’ve been moving my room around so it will be liveable again. Since I’m going to be here for 3-4 months, I may as well enjoy it.

The PagCam will be up eventually. Not sure where I will put it yet, but it’ll find a new home.

Also, thanks for all the birthday wishes. Both on here and elsewhere. 19 is a pretty crappy year because nothing happens. You just get older. Yay…

Anywise, I got a freebord, which I will start to play around with once it stops raining. I’m going to be looking for some decent hills which will provide me with runs that will last longer than a couple minutes. I think Atkins Street is the best hill I’ve found so far in town, but I’m sure there are others.

Lastly, incase anyone is missing me on AIM, I forgot my password, so I can’t get on it from my laptop. Once I get my desktop set up again, I’ll be back in action.

Till next time,

Loss

Bad news folks. Lots of bad news.

Firstly: my external hard drive for music fell off of my computer, and onto the ground, which is a pretty nasty, unsoft fall. I haven’t been able to get my computer to recognise it yet, so thats no good. I might have lost 200 gigs of music. FUN

Next, my computer is dying on me too. For one reason or another, music now only comes out of the right speakers, or right headphone. That ain’t right, and I know its some sort of hardware issue (balance is correct everywhere).

Lastly, Firefox doesn’t like me anymore. I updated to 1.5.0.3, and now I can’t get to anywhere on the web. It is probably an extention that doesn’t play nicely with the new firefox update, but I really don’t want to uninstall all of them only to find that wasn’t the problem in the first place.

SO, this is the deal. Since this is finals week for me anyway, and I’m forced to use IE (I’ve forgotten how trashy it is), I’m not updating the site. I’m just not happy that this place is killing all of my comp parts.
Even my laptop got messed up by a powersurge up here.

I should return to this site on Monday, and I’ll be officially done with freshman year :)

See you all then.

Bogus

Ok, so I had a really weird dream last night. Luckily I woke up right after it ended, so I remember most of it. Here is what I have:

I’m in this little store, conviently located in the stands of a stadium, and I want to buy something. at the counter, I tell the lady I’m a Yankee (a player on the baseball team) and that I want to buy this [something]. She makes up this little swipy card that I can use to buy things there (I’ve done this before in my dreams, except I wasn’t a Yankee). Also, I noticed the face on the card wasn’t mine this time, and it was the last time I dreamt about this. So I’m waiting for them to get my card in order, and they do little mistakes like spelling my name wrong, so it takes a little longer. I end up with a five thousand something dollar balance on my card, so I bought whatever it was I came in there for, and then got into a debate with the lady about what was on the cover of some arbitrary magazine on the counter. Shaq is there, for some reason, and he takes my side on whatever it was we were arguing.
When we go back to the stadium, I just sit down and watch the game (lakers vs someone) but Shaq won’t let this magazine thing die. So he actually gets into an argument with players on the court, and it gets really close to a fight breaking out. then some people in the stands get involved, but they suck at it. The most memorable one was the team of girl’s soccer kids who charged on the court, and tried to slide tackle someone, but came up short. My roommate walked across the court too, but said something like “I’m just heading over there…” Everyone who knew him yelled “Boscooooo” as he crossed. All the while I’m still sitting in the stands, watching the mayhem.
Next, the players decide how to settle their dispute. They get a watermelon, and put it on the court. Then each team squared up on each side of an imaginary scrimage line (as in football). (this is where I drop down to seats closer to the court) They punt the melon (not very far), and someone on the lakers recovers it quickly, and runs it a short distance down the court. he’s tackled, but apparantly he got enough distance to prove that he was right about the magazine thing.

This is easily the best game of basketball I have ever witnessed, even though it was in a dream. Also, I’m not sure where most of this stuff came from, because its an especially random dream. Maybe its because I watched the Big Lebowski before I went to sleep last night. Anywise, I was pretty angry at my brain yesterday, because its been letting me down, but I’m pretty sure its redeemed itself in full with this.

General Mansmith

This is a theory that I have been plugging to people for a bunch of months now, and it has grown some momentum. I’m writing this just so it has some documentation on the internet, somewhere.

The idea is that any job that ends in man is a solid job. (Keep in mind this includes jobs ending in woman) The pay is good, and the job is fairly easy / is interesting / doesn’t suck. Man jobs, for the most part, are not held in high esteem by society.

Jobs that end in smith are also a good jobs, but certainly not as common.

Recently, the addition of General has been accepted as a good job word. If a job has General anywhere in the name (beginning, middle, end) then it is most likely a solid job. However, most General jobs are not jobs that you would just walk into. For the most part you need to be promoted from an inferior non-man-smith-general job.

As a sidenote, Lumberjacksmith is a very cool job, but the most rare of them all. A Lumberjacksmith chops wood, which he uses to fuel his forge, which he uses to smith more axes, swords, whatever he needs.

The following are imperfect lists, but should provide you with an idea of what I am talking about. If you’d like to add any, leave a comment.

Man Jobs:
Fireman
Delivery Man
Mail Man
Spokesman
Batman
Policeman
Pacman
Garbage Man
Milk Man
Salesman

Smith Jobs:
Blacksmith
Goldsmith
Aerosmith
Silversmith
Lumberjacksmith
Locksmith

General Jobs:
Attorney General
Post Master General
Surgeon General

etc

All Beter

Everything is working again, but there are no upgrades…
I think the code I was working with is too buggy to try and get to work on this site, so I’ll do all the testing and tweaking on another site, and see if I get get it to work here after.
